On April 19, 2022, MSU School of Packaging celebrated its groundbreaking to modernize the Packaging building.

In late 2021, Ring Container Technologies gifted $1.5 million to the Michigan State University School of Packaging, in support of renovations to and expansion of that school’s building. And in April 2022, the School officially broke ground, with our president and COO in attendance to commemorate the occasion.

With average wages of nearly $95,000 a year, declining tuition fees and an expanding workforce, packaging degrees are a path to the frontlines of a sustainability revolution taking place in manufacturing. The number of students receiving these degrees is steadily growing – and for those that have been awarded, an average of half were given by Michigan State.

We are proud to have our name on the main corridor of the School of Packaging’s new building.

A long-standing connection to MSU

Brian is a proud MSU alumnus, graduating from the School of Packaging in 1995. Since then, the industry has vastly changed – and so has MSU – but the school, as well as Ring, has remained at the forefront of innovation and change.

The MSU School of Packaging knows that innovation begins with the student experience. Much has been accomplished within the building’s current walls, but classrooms that integrate technology more and that encourage collaboration are more likely to stimulate better learning, better innovations and greater outcomes.

The difference we make within the industry is about making sustainability solutions more accessible and practical to consumers and brands.

The old ways of working, thinking and doing will not be as effective. With MSU, Ring shares the goal of broadening the pipeline of people going into packaging – because with more diverse perspectives comes more dynamic leadership for solving these problems.
